Overview

The Prospect Valley (PV) property was first staked in the fall of 2001 following the discovery of numerous gold–bearing quartz-vein and breccia float occurrences demonstrating classic epithermal textures.

The PV property area is an intrusion-related low–sulphidation epithermal mineralization system, in which the gold mineralization is controlled by folded rock and fault structures and closely associated with pyrite. Low–sulphidation epithermal deposits are precious metal–bearing quartz veins, stockworks and breccias that formed from the boiling of volcanic–related hydrothermal to geothermal systems.

Geology

The Prospect Valley Property is underlain by Spences Bridge Group Spius Creek Formation andesite and basalt flows with local flow breccias. A north-trending moderately west-dipping fault, the Early Fault Zone (EFZ), has been traced roughly 3km on the property.

Brecciated, silicified and quartz-veined rocks in the immediate hanging wall of the EFZ host a similar style of low-sulphidation epithermal gold and silver mineralization found at Shovelnose.

Exploration History

  • Prospect Valley Timeline 2001 to 20052001 to 2005

    Activity:
Discovery of high grade quartz vein and breccia float in Bonanza Valley area (up to 43.3 g/t gold; no bedrock source identified).

Property scale stream sediment sampling; soil sample grids in areas identified as prospective.

Discovery of surface mineralization; hand and machine trenching; channel sampling.

    Airborne and ground geophysical surveys.

    Results:
Up to 43.3 g/t gold; no bedrock source identified

  • Prospect Valley Timeline 2006 to 2010 2006 to 2010

    Activity:
Three drill programs totalling 8,818m, completed by previous owners, tested the North and South Discovery Zones and at other targets: extensive additional surface sampling 2006 to 2015 (silt, soil, rock and trenching/channels)

    Results:
Outlined an extensive low-grade epithermal gold system over a 1.7km corridor; surface sampling identifies additional areas of interest; discovery of NIC showing at surface; channel sampling across the NIC vein gave results of 6.15g/t Au over 0.5m, 3.72g/t Au over 0.7m and 2.70g/t Au over 1.4m; Crown, Ridgeline, Dome, Dog Leg, and Teepee Creek areas represent exploration targets from soil sampling

  • Prospect Valley Timeline 2016 2016

    Activity:
Westhaven acquires 100% interest; completes an eight-hole drill program (1,519m)

    Results:
    Best result: 95.8m of 0.7 g/t gold including 15.0m of 2.2 g/t gold;

Westhaven replicates gold in float results at Bonanza Valley and completes a ground magnetic survey.

Westhaven undertakes several silt sampling programs to complete coverage on the property and to follow-up gold anomalies from historic programs.

Prospecting and rock sampling programs to investigate anomalous stream basins and soil geochemical features.

  • Prospect Valley Timeline 2020 2020

    Activity:
Ground magnetic survey completed south of the South Discovery Zone

    Results:
Extended structural coverage and defined new drill targets within the Bonanza area

  • Prospect Valley Timeline 2021 to 2022 2021 to 2022

    Activity:
    Field work delayed

    Results:
COVID-19, wildfires, November 2021 atmospheric river events (floods) and related highway closures for rebuilding restrict access and curtain exploration programs

  • Prospect Valley Timeline 2023 2023

    Activity:
Field work resumes: spring and fall sampling programs in and around the Bonanza area; airborne LiDAR survey completed

    Results:
Best float result of 3.2 g/t gold discovered by prospecting; historical high-grade float occurrences confirmed; new areas of interest identified

  • Prospect Valley Timeline 20242024

    Activity:
Rock and stream sediment samples collected across the southern and western parts of the property.

    Results:
Bonanza Target confirmed; seven new drainages identified with equivalent or better gold values, pointing to previously unknown gold sources

  • Prospect Valley Timeline 20252025

    Activity:
Rock samples and stream sediment samples collected across the eastern and northern parts of the property.

    Results:
NIC quartz veining confirmed; drainage basins of interest refined
