Westhaven Reports Drill Results from its Shovelnose Gold Property

Vancouver, B.C. - October 7, 2014 - Westhaven Ventures Inc. (TSX-V:WHN) reports drill results from its 18,412 hectare Shovelnose gold property, located within the prospective Spences Bridge Gold Belt (SBGB), approximately 30 km south of Merritt, British Columbia. The drill program consisted of 6 holes, totaling 652 metres of diamond drilling.

Results have further expanded an anomalous silicified zone discovered in 2012, grading 0.54 g/t gold (Au) and 4.77 g/t silver (Ag) over 50 metres was intersected. This seasons drilling intersected anomalous gold in all 6 holes. The most notable holes from this program were SN14-07 which intersected 6 metres grading 0.83 g/t Au and 5.2 g/t Ag, SN14-09 which intersected 5 metres grading 0.76 g/t Au and 11.8 g/t Ag and SN14-11 which intersected 19 metres grading 0.28 g/t Au and 1.46 g/t Ag.

Limited drilling to date has outlined an area of gold-silver mineralization which continues to be expanded and is open in all directions. Drill hole BN14-09 has a strong correlation between gold-silver-molybdenum, which company geologists believe could be the feeder to the system that could host higher grade material. Though near-surface, low-grade breccia-hosted deposits are an attractive exploration target, focus will continue to be on the mineralogy related to depth and the environment of formation in the interest of finding higher grade gold and silver.

Shovelnose Gold Property Overview

To date, 26 diamond drill holes have been drilled for a cumulative total of 3,079 metres, in three separate target areas. There is evidence of a significant mineralized alteration system within the property where float samples grading 119 g/t Au (Gold) and 273 g/t Ag (Silver), veins in trenching grading 66 g/t Au and wide low grade alteration zones typical of epithermal gold deposits have been discovered.

The 18,412 ha Shovelnose gold property is a gold-silver epithermal-style exploration target that covers prospective stratigraphy in the southern Spences Bridge Gold Belt (SBGB), a 110 km northwest-trending belt of intermediate to felsic volcanic rocks of the Cretaceous Spences Bridge Group. Westhaven is currently working to earn up to a 70% interest in the property from Strongbow Exploration Inc., a TSX-V listed company.
